Jacaranda Moon

lyrics

The 28th of May a sunny Spring day - I went for a walk in my neighborhood
I sent you a video of all the beauty, cause you say beauty will save the world
Jacaranda snow was coming down, it was coming down where you were too
And peeking through the branches I saw a crescent moon on its way to full

Though we may have met through a screen
I started falling for you somewhere in between
And like the jacaranda moon shining down on me
You always
make me feel so seen

The fifth of June was a movie night: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Full moon was rising high and we kept on talking til 3 am
Lying face to face, all hazy eyed, on our respective beds
And I knew I’d chosen wisely, though there were still some things left unsaid

Though we may have met through a screen
We were falling in love somewhere in between
Though you may be blind to red and green
You always
make me feel so seen

On the first of July, was the first time I met you in 3D
And when you first gave me a hug, it felt just like a lucid dream
You came into my home, held me in your arms, and rested your hand on my waist

No other man touching my body ever made me feel so safe

And on the day you first said you loved me, and your lips first met mine
You placed a jacaranda blossom in my hair and took a picture though you couldn’t see my smile

Though we may have met through a screen
We both had fallen in love somewhere in between
Every memory means so much to me
And you always
make me see…

..all the beauty in all things
and the holiness of you holding me
And every time I see a jacaranda tree
It reminds me how you always
make me feel so seen

Her writing follows after fiery femme rock artists like Fiona Apple and Alanis Morissette, but with a distinct spiritual bent, inspired by Sufjan Stevens and Audrey Assad. She hopes her music points beyond itself, to the transcendent, and that it uplifts and heals. ... more
